We invite the local community to attend our consultation event to learn more about the project.
The event will take place on Monday 20th July 2026 3pm-7pm at Hoo Village Hall, Pottery Road, Hoo, Rochester, ME3 9BS. Members of the project team will be available to provide information and answer questions about the proposals.
We are proposing to build Solomons Farm BESS, a 240MW/ 960 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) on land off Ratcliffe Highway, High Halstow, ME3 8QQ. By increasing the UK’s energy storage capacity, the project will support energy security, reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels and help protect against global energy market volatility. The BESS will store surplus electricity when demand is low and export it back to the grid when it is needed most, helping to create a more flexible, reliable and resilient energy system.
Medway Council declared a climate emergency in April 2019, committing to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Our proposal will contribute to the security of energy supply in Medway through the provision of local, renewable energy. It will also reduce greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to the Government’s target of net-zero by the end of 2050.
The project will generate Business Rates for the local Council, creating additional income that can be used to fund local services.
Solomons Farm BESS is currently in development, with planning and environmental studies underway. The project will be designed to minimise impact to surrounding communities and to operate in a safe and environmentally sensitive manner. We are keen to receive feedback from local residents and the community about the proposed project
