🎥 Watch the video below to hear directly from our Construction Team and CPP about what it takes to bring a large-scale battery project to life, and how partnerships and careful planning make it all possible.

The Williamsdale BESS, located south of Canberra, is a 250 MW / 500 MWh battery project that will play a key role in supporting the ACT’s renewable energy goals. By providing reliable, flexible energy storage, the project will help balance the grid, enhance energy security, and enable more renewable generation to come online, contributing to the ACT’s ambition to reach net zero emissions by 2045.

This milestone is a testament to the dedication, expertise, and collaboration of the teams behind the project. Eku Energy’s Delivery Team is working closely with our Balance of Plant Contractor, Consolidated Power Projects (CPP), ensuring that every stage of construction is executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. From civil works to electrical installations, every element is a demonstration of what can be achieved when partners share a long-term vision.

Recent project highlights include the delivery of the main transformer in early September, now assembled and with Site Acceptance Testing complete - and the arrival of Tesla Megapacks starting mid-October. With civil works completed and electrical works progressing steadily, the project remains on track for energisation in Q1 2026, with full commissioning scheduled later in the year.

The Williamsdale BESS is an investment in the future. Large-scale energy storage is a critical enabler of the energy transition, allowing renewable energy to be integrated reliably into the grid and supporting communities with cleaner, more resilient energy solutions. Achieving milestones like this demonstrates the impact of long-term thinking and strong partnerships: together, we are building solutions that will serve the ACT, its people, and the planet for decades to come.

We are grateful to all those who make this project possible, from our teams at Eku to our trusted partners at CPP, Tesla, and beyond. Their expertise, dedication, and commitment to excellence are what turn ambitious plans into reality.
