Dion BESS

Grid forming and black-start capable

Dion BESS is not only our first project in Germany but also one of the largest in the country.

Project overview

The Dion BESS will be the largest of its kind in Germany and will provide black-start capability through a direct connection to the transmission grid. This capability will enhance energy security in the region by supporting faster and more reliable grid recovery during outages. The project will contribute to energy security in Germany and deliver important grid services.  Whilst project developer NION will remain responsible  for further project development up to the Ready to Build stage of Dion BESS, we assume strategic leadership across development, design and technology.

Commissioning is planned for the end of 2029.
