Rangebank BESS impresses with its compact, innovative concrete slab structure.
Jointly developed by Eku Energy and Shell Energy with minority equity partner, Perfection Private, the grid-scale battery is connected to Victoria’s transmission network at the Cranbourne Terminal Station. The Rangebank BESS helps to increase Victoria’s renewable energy hosting capacity and provides essential system services that support the safe, secure and reliable operation of Australia’s energy system. Shell Energy has exclusive access to 100% of the capacity based on a 20-year offtake.
The BESS is built, serviced, and maintained by Fluence, a global provider of energy storage products and services, and cloud-based software for renewables and storage, utilising Fluence’s latest Gridstack product.

The opening of Rangebank BESS in early December 2024 by Minister D'Ambrosio was attended by our project partners Shell Energy Australia and Perfection Private as well as Fluence Energy. We were excited to also have students and teachers from Cranbourne West Public School at the event, the recipients of one of our Rangebank BESS community grants.
