Ocker Hill BESS

A symbol of the UK energy transition.

Ocker Hill plays again an important role in the energy system as Ocker Hill BESS is located close to the former Ocker Hill power station.

Project overview

40 years after the demolition of the original coal-fired power station at Ocker Hill, the nearby Ocker Hill BESS will be providing energy and grid services.

By securing strong financial backing from NatWest Bank and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and partnering with Tesla Energy for the BESS supply, we are continuing to expand our role in building a more flexible and resilient energy system for the United Kingdom. In addition, we reached a 10 year tolling agreement with SmartestEnergy, a 100% owned subsidiary of Marubeni Coproration in Japan. This toll is the longest to date in the United Kindom for any BESS project and marks a pivotal turning point for renewable infrastructure investment in the UK markert.
