Eku Energy Japan today announced that it commenced operations of the Kami-Tonno BESS in Kami-Tonno, Nogata City, Fukuoka Prefecture, in April 2026.
This project is a grid-scale BESS with an output of 2MW and a capacity of 8MWh. The project is being advanced through the acquisition by Eku Energy Japan of a facility developed and constructed by NTT Anode Energy which provides comprehensive battery storage services. NTT Anode Energy will also be responsible for operations and maintenance of the facility.
The Kami-Tonno BESS is the first BESS for which Eku Energy Japan will conduct electricity market trading directly. This project represents an important milestone for the Company as it advances asset operations and trading in Japan. Through this project, Eku Energy Japan will build knowledge and expertise in the operation and trading of BESS assets in Japan’s power market, which will support not only its future business development in Japan but also its broader business globally.
